Numbers always
have a story.
I am Hristos Liakos — a financial auditor, curious reader and observer of the people, institutions and ideas that move us.
↓WHO I AM
Between three cities,
two cultures and many ideas.
Roots in Grevena, formative years in Thessaloniki and a professional life in Bucharest. I am drawn to the point where economics meets human behaviour — where numbers stop being merely numbers.
MY PERSONAL NOTEBOOK
Three lenses for reading reality.
01
FINANCIAL ARTICLES
Numbers as narrative.
Analysis, audit and economics — with precision, but without losing sight of the bigger picture.
ECONOMICS · 5 MINWhy numbers always need context
A percentage without a basis for comparison may impress, but it does not explain. A metric without the story of the business may be correct and misleading at the same time. Judgement begins where automated calculation ends.
AUDIT · 6 MINWhat audit can teach us about trust
Audit is not only reconciliations, samples and evidence. It is the art of asking the right question: what happened, who knows, and which detail does not yet fit the bigger picture?
BUSINESS · 4 MINWhat a cash flow really tells us
Profit describes a period. Cash flow reveals its resilience. When the two tell different stories, that is precisely where the investigation should begin.
02
OPINIONS
Positions, not certainties.
Thoughts on institutions, behaviour, ambition and the contradictions of everyday life.
PERSONAL PROSE · 3 MIN READThe Shadow Recedes
An inner letter about stillness, change and the courage to reach out once more.

A personal reflection on time, spiritual change and the quiet wealth that follows us before we realise it is there.

A critical reflection on Valentine's Day, romantic stereotypes and the everyday expression of devotion.

WORLD
Places and connections.
Culture, international developments and stories linking Greece, Romania and the wider world.
IDENTITY · 4 MINFrom Thessaloniki to Bucharest
Belonging to two worlds does not mean standing in the middle. It means learning to see each world from both inside and outside — translating not only words, but habits, humour and values.
GREECE & ROMANIA · 7 MINTwo countries, more common ground than we think
Behind different languages lie parallel experiences: family, migration, European identity and a constant negotiation between tradition and modernisation.
OBSERVATIONS · 5 MINThe world through small stories
Great changes become easier to understand when we see how they transform a job, a neighbourhood or a family. Global history often lives in very small rooms.
A PERSONAL JOURNEY
Change is not measured
by the scale alone.
From 170 kg to the October 2026 low of 105.2 kg, my journey has been about far more than a number. It has been built through difficult decisions, new habits, patience and the acceptance that progress does not always follow a straight line. Every step reminds me that we can rewrite our relationship with our bodies and our lives.
«You do not have to change everything today. You only have to choose yourself again tomorrow.»
BEYOND THE OFFICE
The moments between
the numbers.
Hookah
For me, hookah is less a habit and more a small ritual: time slows down, aromas fill the room, and conversations find their own rhythm.
PRINCIPLES
«Be precise with facts,
but generous with people.»
How I try to work, write and listen.
